[Private/PvE] Business

OOC: That shit was confusing. I guess it works? Iffy, considering Quake's actual AGI. Oh well.

The ability missed and angered the giant ape. It shifted it's weight toward the position chrome and Quake rolled into, putting all it's weight on it's forward foot. It was the same foot that the earth pillar appeared under, knocking the ape over.

19-4= 15HP

Chrome was saved by Quake's intervention, leaving her unharmed for now. She knew that attack would've put quite the hurting on her frail body. Mages could never take many hits, being squishy and all. She followed up Quake's earth motion attack, firing off her firebolt right before the rockape was sent off balance.

With the rockape on the ground, she let loose more power into her firebolt, thinking it would be a surefire hit.

Trait: Double WIL stat.

Firebolt! 6 + 2 Fire damage = 8 DAM

Quake smirked as the rock ape tipped over, now was the opening he needed for the last heavy attack his body could muster.

With the beast falling over backwards, the desert warrior focused all his strength- both physical and magical. He brought a heavy fist down onto the earth, making the immediate area around him tremble. From under the creature shot forth a dense stalagmite sharpened to a point, which aimed to impale the rock ape on the way down.

Quake used Strength of Will.
Quake used Heavy Hitter.

The rockape took the full blow from Chrome, but was able to shield some of the damage from the earth projectile.

8+6= 14 DAM
15-14= 1 HP

It was nearly defeated, but unlike some animals, the rockapes instincts to live kicked in. With a furious howl it charged at Quake. It reared it's fists backwards and thrust it forward with the last of it's primal might. It aimed an uppercut right for Quake's jewels...!

HEAVY HITTER!
STRIKE! Attempting 12 Dam....!

Chrome rolled to her left, breaking free from the charge area. She wasn't sure if the monster was low on life yet, but she would keep at it with Quake until it did. For now, she would dodge the assault and prepare for her next firebolt.

Quake grew wide-eyed, he'd thought the beast dead after such an assault but it came back more furious than ever. Seeing the impending target that was Quake's very own precious cargo, his own primal instincts kicked in. With a rush of adrenaline he tried quickly ducking under the first, but to no avail. He managed to avoid a direct hit in the junk but he still took the massive blow to the chest, effectively breaking the last good ribs he had left after the previous hit.

25 - 12 = 13HP

The desert warrior slid backwards into the dirt, paralyzed in pain.

After that last primal attack, the rockape fell unconscious. It was completely on the last of it's reserves, but had no strength left. A simple strike would end it's life, but would you take the life of such a majestic creature? Rockapes are genetically a close mixture of human and stonekin DNA and are some of the most intelligent creatures. Due to human expansion and hunting, they've been driven nearly extinct. Killing this creature might doom it's race for a long time since the younger ape will have no one to look after it and teach it.

Chrome extinguished her fire, running over to Quake to help him up. She carried him out of the area, and back into hiding. She noticed Leo was gone by now, thinking he had probably run off on his own. Getting back to the nearby city was what was first priority.

She said no words, knowing Quake was more damaged than her.

Quake grimaced and stood up. He said nothing, and began walking back in the direction of the rock ape, with a solemn expression on his face. As he approached he picked up the crossbow he had previously left on the ground. It was no mistake Chrome had simply left it there, for there was no way she would have even been able to lift it, much less while carrying Quake as well.

He lowed himself slightly to grab a handful of rocks with a pained expression on his face as he did. He was doing his best to fight through the pain in his torso. The hunter couldn't rest yet, however. His prey was still alive.

Quake stood over the rock ape's unconscious body and stared at it for a moment. It was a creature he'd never seen before, but it did remind him a lot of the Stonekin, not just physically either as it had displayed more intelligence than most creatures at its level. It was barely clinging to life, it would be cruel, really, to leave it out here in this shape. Chances of it making a full recovery were slim. Either way keeping monsters alive.. for study, out of mercy, for any reason... that wasn't his job. Quake was a Hunter.

He molded a bolt in his hand and loaded his crossbow. Quake rose the weapon slowly and aimed carefully. He fired a clean shot into the beast's chest.

With a last wince of pain, the Rockape left the world of the living. The blood slowly started to seep into the ground from the wound. As the blood soaked the rest of the ape's body, a strange phenomenon started to occur. The light brownish, tan rock armor began to change color and properties. When it was alive, the nerve endings in the armored parts of the beast kept it from completely solidifying, but it was still hard as rock. Now that those nerve endings had been cut off, the rock started to completely harden, making quite the crafting material.

The hunters could perhaps take it with them to sell or maybe to use it to craft armor of their own... whatever the case, they needed to do it quickly. A fresh corpse doesn't go unnoticed for long in the wilds. With Quake's elemental ability, it could now affect the rock ape.

Chrome watched as Quake went back to finish the job. She was quite impressed with all his wounds, but that's what makes a Hunter. She wasn't at his level quite yet, but one day she would be able to finish monsters off once she gets all her knowledge out of it. Field studies are where they're at. "Hurry Quake. We gotta move it out of here."

Quake gave a quick nod to Chrome.

He knelt down over the carcass and pulled out his skinning knife. Using a combination of his earth manipulation and the knife he made quick work of it. He cleaned off his blade and packed up the collection of materials. Quake slung his crossbow over and started walking toward Chrome, when suddenly his knees buckled under the weight and he stopped.

The desert hunter motioned to Chrome, "I'm gonna need a little help, Silver. Be a darling, would ya?"

Chrome ran over to get Quake quickly. She lifted his arm and tried pulling him up to his legs to help him walk out of here with her. Quake was much heavier this time, due to the crossbow. Chrome couldn't believe the weight difference, but she didn't give in. They at least needed some hiding place before resting.
